Meet the TinyDeeds team! Everyone here is a volunteer. This is a labor of love, bolstered by shared values and a wide range of past experiences.
DeeDee Hopkins is our fearless leader and a community leader in the world of Portland food distribution. DeeDee was born in Los Angeles, where she was raised by her beloved grandmother Gertrude, whose Southern roots influence all of DeeDee’s food. She trained at the St. Joseph’s Culinary Training Program in Venice Beach, CA, and did her externship at Jar Restaurant in LA. DeeDee brought her food skills to Portland in 2019, where she ran Rosie’s Lounge, a companion to the legendary Alberta Rose Theater, until COVID shut them down in March of 2020. During and after COVID times, DeeDee’s passion for food justice led her to create and run The Pull-Up, a free mutual aid food truck at the cart pod on Alberta and 15th. DeeDee has chefed for everyone from Norman Lear to Burning Man to folks sleeping rough on the streets of Portland. She stands 10 toes down on food equity, bringing the same culinary magic to anyone she serves. At the end of the day, DeeDee can be found dancing her heart out to house music while repping the Lakers (sorry, Portland, this girl is purple and gold all the way) or snuggling with her unemployed four-legged roommate, Mason, while they binge The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
UNFORTUNATELY this work doesn’t pay, but fortunately DeeDee loves to cook for clients too. Do you need meal prep? Are you looking for an event to be catered? Check out GooDDeeds here and book her TODAY!!
We’re lucky to have a core group of volunteers, The Crew, who pull up weekly. You’ll get to meet them here and learn a little more about them soon!
